Using A Website Builder To Build A Flash Or HTML site

Date Added: July 13, 2011 07:36:08 AM

Now that you have decided that you want your own website, it’s time to make some more decisions. Whether you are making the site for personal use or business you want an efficient and good-looking site as this is often the first point of contact. There are some common issues people face when they choose to go DIY way by using website builders. For example, a lot of DIY sites can be really badly designed in terms of search engine visibility. Or, the site has far too many objects making it slow to load that can annoy your visitors greatly. But don’t worry we have lined up some basic principles to keep in mind when using these website builders.

One of the major decision that’ll be so fundamental to your website is the choice between Flash and HTML. Most guys just get so attracted to Flash that they donot realize that it can have detrimental effects. We are going to help you see both sides of the coin and let you help decide what’s best for your situation.

.Why Use Flash?

Flash is an immensely powerful program owned by Adobe. Most of the games, animation, and online ads use Flash. It allows for some mind-blowing animation and dynamic content. It makes the whoel content alive with sounds and graphics. As it can very easily integrate multimedia, Flash content can really sizzle upi your web page if done right.

Then what’s the Problem with Flash

Well, all the good things apart, Flash is a highly complex program to master and use. Because of easy accessibility more and more guys are using Flash. Same is eth case with Website Builder programs. Flash content can’t be read by search engines, so that’s one of the major issue with Flash. On slower connections Flash files can take forever to load. All browsers do not accept flash so you might have problems with site loading on some browsers.

Website builders allow for very basic Flash capability that makes matter even worse. So you have to rethink whether that cute little Flash animation is worth all the trouble that comes bundled with it.

What About Good Old HTML?

HTML is what a basic webpage is made up of. The very first page ever coded used some form of HTML. Even eth Flash animation requires HTML tags to embed the piece of animation within the webpage. All browsers love HTML as that’s what they are primarily taught to read.

There is no software to load, no files to attach, no baggage. It’s just simple code written on a notepad. Search engines love it and by using it your website will be loved by them.

Now, having said all that one must know that a pure HTML only site is a static site. That means it’ll be less vibrant and dynamic than a Flash site. Of course you can add images and sound to HTML but not like the way a Flash site can. So at the end of the day it’s your call what you want- Flash animation, or, HTML usability?
